With the days are getting shorter and darker, we highly recommend a visit to the Butterflies, Bugs & Birds Exhibit at the LI Aquarium. There’s something delightful about having a butterfly light on our shoulder or studying the industrialist work of the leaf cutter ant. The Butterflies, Bugs & Birds Exhibit is open every day of the week from 10am-5pm on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays and from 11am-5pm on Mondays & Thursdays. The LI Aquarium is located at 431 East Main Street, Riverhead NY.
Proud Sponsor of the Bugs Exhibit at the Long Island Aquarium
The biggest fans of our exhibit are Long Island children and families. We asked Courtney, age 7, from South Huntington about her visit to the aquarium. Her favorite part of the Bug Exhibit is “the big scary spiders”. What was her favorite part of her visit? “When a butterfly landed on her”. When will she return? “Grandma, can we come back tomorrow?” Her grandma –smart woman – replied “Maybe”!
You can expect to see:
- Butterflies!
- Many preserved insect specimens from all around the world.
- Some really large and colorful beetles.
- Praying mantis.
- Leaf cutter ants working.
- And much more =)

We’re always looking to give back to our Long Island family, friends and neighbors. In addition to sponsoring the Bugs Exhibit at the Long Island Aquarium, #SuburbanCares sponsors highway signs which help keep Long Island roads clean, cancer awareness programs, food and book drives. Since 2011, our free library show has visited libraries in both Nassau and Suffolk counties. We provide a fun, educational children’s show which features bugs and other animals.
