The newest disease – the Zika virus- is spread by mosquitoes. This disease is especially frightening because of the way it causes severe developmental issues and sometimes death in newborn babies. The Center of Disease Control (CDC) describes the disease as “spread to people primarily through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito.” While our scientists try to find a cure, Zika virus likely will continue to spread to new areas.
