Winter Clothes Storage

Carpet beetles, moths and silverfish could find your clothes as attractive as you do. Before you put your winter clothes away  in storage, you’ll want to avoid attracting insects.

Avoid Attracting Insects

  • Wash or dry-clean all items. Stains and perspiration can attract insects.
  • Store your closes in fabric bags. Some plastic can discolor clothes over time.  Also, natural fabrics like cashmere and wool need to “breathe”.
  • Vacuum your closet and inside your suitcase regularly.  Be on the lookout for signs of insects.  Once your clothes are stored, treat the closet or container as a “vault”. Try not to open it again until the fall.

If you see signs of insects, call the Long Island professional  Suburban Exterminating (631) or (516) 864-6900.
