Real Mice vs Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse

Not everyone wants to learn about mice, rats or other rodents.  While we write, advise and discuss many ways to keep these pests out of your home, our most popular social postings are always about Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse. After all, who can resist two of the cutest Disney characters!  If only the mice in your home were as cute!

Real Mice vs Mickey Mouse

Who appears in more US homes? Real Mice or Mickey Mouse?  Because it’s estimated that over 21 million homes are invaded by mice each year, so we declare a tie between real mice and Mickey Mouse! (Thanks @pestworld for this fact!)

Did you know that mice move indoors between October and February to get out of the cold? They find warmth, food and water in US homes.

Who’s got an appetite? Mice eat between 15-20 times a day. They build their homes close to whatever they are eating!  If real mice were visiting Disneyworld, they’d have their choice of Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream, donuts, cookies, pretzels and more!

Shenanigans? Mickey Mouse swims, runs, jumps and more! He’s always up to one shenanigan or another!  Real mice can do it all, too! They can great jumpers, climbers and swimmers.

How can mice magically appear? Mickey Mouse was adorable when he appeared as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice in the hit movie Fantasia.

Real mice are magicians, also, just not as adorable. They can squeeze through openings as small as the size of a dime. Any gap or hole or pipe opening can be the way a mice gets into your home. Mice also can jump a foot into the air, allowing them to easily climb up onto kitchen counters or into pantries to access food.

How old are they? How long do mice live? In the wild, mice usually only live for about five months, mostly because of predators such as cats, snakes and foxes. In a lab setting, mice can live for up to two years. It’s hard to tell one mouse from another. And real mice have lots of babies!

Mickey Mouse has been around since November 18, 1928. So Mickey’s 89 years old!

They spread more _____________ than you know. Mice spread diseases like Hantavirus and Salmonella. And don’t forget that mice can actually carry as many as 200 human pathogens! Gross!

Mickey Mouse has appeared in hundreds of movies and even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He’s all about spreading fun and joy!

Don't miss out on our Rodent Shield treatment! It's an all-natural repellent applied to your home’s foundation. Rats and mice hate the smell and taste of what smells like mint to us. The product is made of all-natural essential oils which bind to your home’s foundation and are not easily washed off.
