Entomologist Credited for Daylight Savings Time
Daylight savings time takes place on November 4 2012 at 2 am. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour!
Many people credit Ben Franklin as the original inventor of daylight savings. However, an entomologist (bug scientist) took Ben’s “early to bed and early to rise” and made it happen!
Spring Ahead; Fall Back
Entomologist Inventor, George Vernon Hudson, is often credited for proposing daylight savings time. Of course, he wanted the extra time to study insects! His collection of insects is the largest in New Zealand. You can see them all at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Hudson collected mostly moths, butterflies and beetles.
