Please help us with a book drive for high poverty schools and organizations in our local area. The Book Fairies is a Long Island based non-profit organization which accepts donations of new and gently used books. These donated books are connected with high poverty libraries, schools and organizations throughout metropolitan New York to foster the love of reading with children. Various programs include Train Station Book Cart, Student Reading Group Sets, Special Book Requests, Hospital Activity Books, Incarcerated Youth and more. Donations have been sent to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, foster care agencies, hospitals, correctional facilities, day care centers and troubled teen outreach programs in the metropolitan area.
We’d like to join the Book Fairies in combating illiteracy in our area. Find out more information about the Book Fairies on their website.
