Bald Faced Hornet

Bald-faced hornets create large nests and are capable of stinging many times. By late summer, these hornets have some impressive homes with many family members.About Bald-Faced Hornets

A bald-faced hornet is a type of yellow jacket wasp. They are social insects with one queen and 300+ workers.  Their nests are football shaped, grey papery nests which are built on trees, bushes, chain link fences, overhead lights and other places.  The nests are usually at least 3 feet off the ground.  The queen creates the nest using her saliva and weathered, rotting wood.

When nests are located close to a home or workplace, a licensed professional – like Suburban Exterminating- should be called in. The video shows a nest on a chain link fence in one of our active driveways. Yes, a type of vacuum is used to remove the hornets and their nest.

Suburban Exterminating uses a totally green approach to exterminating these insects where NO pesticides are used. If you have bald-faced hornets threatening your home and family, call Suburban Exterminating (631) 864-6900  or (516) 864-6900
