Varied Carpet Beetles are generally oval. The wing covers meet at the rear end of the body. It is smooth and round with no apparent cleft. The backs of these insects are spotted with gray-yellow, brown, and white scales. They form two bands across the top. The underside of the body is also gray to yellow.

Activity/Behavior: The beetles feed on a variety of foods, including carpets, woolens, skins, furs, stuffed animals, leather binding on books, feathers, silk, plant products, and pollen. They are good fliers and enter homes through open windows.
