Indian Meal Moth
Indian meal moths are one of the most common store product pests found in homes, food processing plants, and grain storage and processing facilities.
Size: 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch long
Color: Burnished copper, almost purple, with a broad gray band
Activity/Behavior: The adult moths are more active at night. They are also attracted to light. They eat grains, dried fruits, nuts, chocolates, beans, crackers, biscuits, dry dog food, birdseeds, and red peppers. They also produce silk webbing.
Where They Live: Outside, moths can be found gathered around the light. Inside, they are found in food containers.
